Schneider Schreibgeräte has been nominated for the German Sustainability Award and is thus one of the most sustainable companies in Germany. The German Sustainability Award is the most important national award in the field of ecology and sustainability. It is awarded through a foundation of the Federal Government, municipalities and associations. The award recognises companies that are particularly successful in meeting the environmental and social challenges of our time. The German Sustainability Award has been awarded annually since 2008 by Stiftung Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis e.V. together with the Federal Government in three categories to small, medium-sized and large companies in all sectors, which successfully commit themselves to a sustainable economy. Schneider was nominated in the category "medium-sized companies".

Founded in 1938, the family-run company Schneider Schreibgeräte GmbH attaches great importance to sustainable and environmentally friendly production. The company has been using regenerative energy sources for 20 years and numerous products are now manufactured in a climate-neutral manner. To this end, Schneider opts for regionality: The company researches, develops and produces exclusively in Germany. In addition, in order to be able to monitor sustainable production, Schneider Schreibgeräte keeps all work steps in-house and has been developing its own ink since 2018. The company relies on bio-based plastics for other materials and recycling material is increasingly being used. In terms of mobility, the company is also sustainable on the road. Since 2012, a bicycle leasing concept has saved more than 400,000 car kilometres. By the end of 2019, passenger transport will be reduced by an additional 20,000 km through three additional video conference rooms at each site.

"We are delighted with the nomination and as a company that processes plastics, metals and chemicals in industries that are particularly challenging for sustainability, we are proud to be recognised. At our company, we became involved in resource conservation and environmentally friendly production at a very early stage," says Schneider.
