The digital drinking glass RASTAL SMARTGLASS® has won the German Innovation Award in gold. The design prize, which was awarded for the first time, recognises innovations that have a lasting effect. The glass and finishing specialist from Höhr-Grenzhausen was honoured in the competition category "Excellence in Business to Business (B2B)" in the "Retail & Trade Solutions" segment for its smart drinking glass. The German Innovation Award is initiated by the German Design Council and does not simply recognise new products, but ones that demonstrably generate added value for the user. Even when it comes to the details of an overall solution, the fundamental focus must be on the user and thus on the human being.
The "RASTAL SMARTGLASS®" is the first digital drinking glass that has been developed for the stringent service and cleaning requirements in the catering industry. Each smart drinking glass has a unique identification number and is therefore always clearly identifiable. In combination with appropriate application scenarios, a direct and targeted interaction between consumer and industry or gastronomy can take place. In real time. Whether it be a bar, restaurant, canteen, festival or discotheque – there are multiple possibilities of using this intelligent glass. RASTAL successfully tested the system for the first time at the Wacken Open Air in the summer of 2017.
"RASTAL is the first manufacturer to venture into the digitalisation of a drinking glass, thereby creating a contemporary, promising added value. The sustainable and brand-enhancing combination of glass and transponder opens up completely new application potential. Extremely exciting", the jury gave as the reasons for their choice. www.rastal.com
