Outstanding brand management – the Wuppertal-based screwdriver specialist Wera embarked on this path many years ago and has systematically pursued it ever since. With the German Brand Award 2017 in gold, Wera has now reached its latest pinnacle. The German Brand Award is organised by the German Brand Institute in conjunction with the German Design Council, which was established by the German parliament in 1953 and sponsored by the Federation of German Industries. This is now the third award Wera has received from the German Design Council. The packaging of the Zyklop Speed ratchet has already received the coveted German Design Award in the "Packaging" category. It was followed by the "Winner" which won the German Brand Award 2016. At this year's German Brand Award, Wera was "Gold Winner" in the "Industry Excellence in Branding – Gardening & Tools" category. The reasoning of the jury is quite remarkable: "Wera has managed to create something that no one has thought necessary or even possible in the industry until now – namely to create an emotional brand world for something as banal as screw-in unscrew, which within a very short time has created a genuine cult following. The strategy behind the success: always question existing standards and 'rebel' by creating clever innovations. The 'Tool Rebels' were born.
